Pittsburgh Airport - Red Roof Inn

Below find information from my recent stay at the Red Roof Inn - Pittsburgh South Airport:
6404 Steubenville Pike, Pittsburgh, PA 15205  (Red Roof Inn # 030)

Pictures from the first room I received:

First stop after several hours in the car?  You guessed it......

While standing there, I noticed a few hairballs.  Kicked those off to the side and proceeded to finish my business:

It was a long trip and kids were restless, so they wanted to take a shower.  After getting out and coming to the bed my kid says that he stepped on something on the carpet.  Surely the room must have been vacuumed when it was cleaned?

Hmmmm.  Maybe not?  Let me check under the beds.....that sounds like a good idea, right?

Okay, so that's a fruit snack.....but WHAT is that next to it?  Sorry, I'm not brave enough to get any closer than this!

Okay, so maybe the vacuum is broken.....or maybe it just doesn't reach under the bed?  It's 2013, surely the vacuum has a detachable wand attachment for those hard to reach areas?

With a recently renovated room with these lovely wood-grained vinyl floors, surely they have something like a Swiffer Wet Jet to keep them clean?  They've only been available in the US since 2002......

Okay, so maybe clean floors are too much to ask for?  When a hotel advertises such amenities as a microwave and mini-fridge surely they MUST be cleaned on a regular basis?

I guess not.   What else could be wrong?  The chair must be clean right?

How about the dresser?  If customers are going to unpack and put their clothes in there, it should be pretty clean, right?

Of course not.     And just one more random picture of the dirt on the floor.

Good job Brenda.   Sorry I didn't bother to fill out the form.....I was too busy calling the front desk to see if they had another room.......

"We do have one other room available.....come down and get the key and go check it out"

"Thanks Bill.  Want to see the pictures?"  "Okay, here's the key, go see if this room is any better."

Let's check out this room and see if it's okay.  I mean it's ONLY 1AM.

Floor swept and dirt and trash left in the corner by the front door?  Check!

How about the carpet?  Maybe the vacuum cleaner works better in this room?

Should I check under the beds?

Well, that's better than the last room.....

Hmm, maybe somebody left me a love note?   In all fairness to the cleaning crew, there isn't much room to get a push vacuum between the bed and nightstands.....or even the wall.

Wait a minute....never mind.  The beds move....and pretty easily.

Yes, this picture is upside down.  And yes, that is a tissue (or napkin?) under the bed.  It's a hotel, I'm sure nothing bad could possibly be on a tissue under the bed!

Hmmmmmm, that still looks sticky.  I think I'll leave my clothes in the suitcase.....

How about the fridge and microwave?  Really have no intention of using them, but I might want to put a couple of bottles of water or soda in the fridge to keep cold:

Okay, so maybe we won't use that either.

Well, kids have already showered, but let's check out the bathroom:

Is that a "short and curly" in the bathtub?   Yep.  OUTSTANDING!

ring, ring, ring, ring......."Hello?  Hi Bill.  Is this room okay?  Well, it's far from clean, but it's better than the last room.  Okay, so just keep the room key and stay here.......great."

I guess $91 per night doesn't get you too much.......

So, was anything okay with the room?

Flat screen HD TV mounted on the wall - nice touch.  20-25 channels in standard definition....no so much.

The place has free wi-fi, and it only took a 16 minute call to customer support to get connected!

Beds and pillows were comfortable.

Toilet paper was acceptable.

Water pressure in the shower was great, and the water was hot.  Bonus points for a hotel that has a shower head mounted at least 6 feet high.

Check out time is 11:00 AM, but the cleaning crew starts working nice and early.  No need to set an alarm - you're likely to be woken by them vacuuming the hallway at 8:30 AM.  If not, the knock on your door at 9:00 AM to see if you need anything will usually do the trick.

Great job Red Roof Inn!  I am very proud to be a RediCard member.
